Topic Protein design
Description
Protein is one of the major macromolecules in our body, and thus protein design is one of the most considerable problems in the field of bioinformatics.
A protein molecule has a 3-dimensional structure, named the tertiary structure, and this structure determines its function that varies from catalyzing chemical reactions to helping the immune system.
The protein design problem considers the relation between the tertiary structure and amino acid chain of a protein and tries to find a chain that would fold into the desired tertiary structure.
In this presentation, we discuss the protein design problem, its challenges, data, and tools that would help us extract information for designing models for solving the problem.
